Caribbean

Mixed Media with Prima Marketing Color Bloom Mists.
Today I am blogging again at Pyssloteket.

Me and my husband love the Caribbean! When I first tested Prima’s Color Mists “Soft Teal” and “Summer Sky” I immediately thought of the Caribbean Ocean. I knew that I wanted to make a Mixed media canvas with an Ocean-Theme using these 2 colors.

How to make an ocean? Well I thought that using ribbons in various styles and sizes would be a cool idea so that is what I did.

Here is the canvas with all the ribbons and shells glued down, before i painted it all with white gesso.

I wanted to make my canvas “Peaceful” so I decided to use very few colors. The ocean is painted with Prima Color Bloom Mist “Soft Teal”, it looks just like the waters in Barbados and Mexico! The sky is painted with Primas “Summer Sky” Mist. I wanted the horizon to show so I painted a line extra thick with “Summer Sky between the ocean and sky.

I used sand paste between the shells to really get the right feeling. The sand is painted with Distress Stain “Antique Linnen”. The shells are painted with Lindy’s Stamp Gang’s “Clam Bake Beige”. So a total of 4 colors only were used.

To make the wave breaks, I just painted extra white gesso here and there. Love the effect!
